The National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA), a coalition of the nation’s 30 leading Hispanic organizations issued the statement below applauding the U.S. Conference of Mayors for passing two resolutions at its 78th Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City today expressing opposition to Arizona’s SB 1070 law and copy cat legislation in other states, as well as expressing support for legal challenges to the law and calling for swift action at the federal level to enact comprehensive immigration reform.

Brewer is the Problem, Not the Solution

The League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the country, demonstrates along with Casa de Maryland, SEIU and other National Hispanic Leadership Agenda organizations in front of the White House today protesting Governor Brewer’s hypocrisy. As President Obama said in the meeting that took place this afternoon, “this is the role of the federal government not the border states to implement immigration laws.”
